Easy French Toast Recipe

A quick and delicious breakfast that comes together in just 15 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (preferably slightly stale or thick-cut like brioche or challah)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk (or any plant-based alternative)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional but delicious)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or oil for frying

Optional Toppings

  • Maple syrup
  • Powdered sugar
  • Fresh berries or banana slices

Instructions

  1. Make the custard In a shallow bowl or dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.

  2. Soak the bread Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture. Let each side soak for about 10–15 seconds (longer if using thick bread).

  3. Cook the French toast Heat a skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat. Add butter or oil. Cook the soaked bread slices for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

  4. Serve Serve warm with toppings like syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit.
