🍏 Apple Crumble Pie Recipe
Ingredients
Crust
- 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought), fitted into a 9-inch pie dish
Filling
- 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (to thicken)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Crumble Topping
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place your pie crust into the pie dish, crimp the edges, and set aside.
- Prepare the filling:
- In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.
- Pour into prepared crust.
- Make the crumble topping:
- In another bowl, combine flour, both sugars, cinnamon, and salt.
- Cut in butter with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture is crumbly.
- Assemble the pie:
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake:
- Place the pie on a baking sheet (to catch drips).
- Bake 50–60 minutes, until topping is golden and filling is bubbling.
- Cover loosely with foil if topping browns too quickly.
- Cool:
- Let the pie cool at least 2 hours before slicing so the filling sets.
Serving Ideas
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
- Leftovers keep well covered at room temperature for 1 day or refrigerated for up to 4 days.
