Chocolate Mug Cake

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug (at least 12 oz capacity), combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly with a fork or small whisk.

  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Add the milk, oil (or butter), and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and no lumps remain.

  3. Optional - Add Chocolate Chips: Stir in chocolate chips for an extra burst of gooey chocolate.

  4. Microwave: Microwave the mug on high for about 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds. Start checking at 1 minute, as microwave power varies. The cake is done when it has risen and looks set on top but is still moist.

  5. Cool and Serve: Let it cool for a minute or two, and enjoy directly from the mug! You can top it with ice cream, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
